ITALIAN DELI MEATS AND THE FIGHT AGAINST WASTE: FROM SOCIAL ACTIVITY TO BUSINESS STRATEGY

Recovery as a value and surpluses as a resource: these are the 2 pillars of the strategy that ASSICA has developed in agreement with the non-profit Banco Alimentare Foundation to ensure that Italian deli meats play their part in the fight against food waste. On the occasion of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste ASSICA promoted the event LOTTA ALLO SPRECO: DA ATTIVITA’ SOCIALE A STRATEGIA D’IMPRESA, a webinar with which the association and the Foundation addressed the operational processes, procedures, logistics, tools, hygiene and safety of donated food, also including some hints on the positive implications in the fiscal and communication fields.

The webinar, aimed primarily at operators in the sector, is part of the range of initiatives promoted by ASSICA with a view to fostering the sustainable development of the Italian delicatessen sector as outlined in the “Sustainability Programme” presented during the 2022 General Assembly. The seminar is one of the initiatives of the “Trust Your Taste – CHOOSE EUROPEAN QUALITY” project.
