Trust Your taste

The “Trust your Taste, Choose European Quality” project is underway

The Associazione Industriali delle Carni e dei Salumi (ASSICA), a member of Confindustria (Confederation of Italian Industry), is the protagonist of a project supported by the European Union that focuses on trust between the supply chain and consumers. “Trust Your Taste, CHOOSE EUROPEAN QUALITY” is the title of the three-year campaign, presented today in advance to the press at the Association’s Annual General Meeting, which takes place in the afternoon via live streaming from the MADE Competence Center I4.0 in Milan. The programme, which will end in 2024, has Italy and Belgium as target countries and is co-financed by the European Commission under Regulation (EU) 1144/2014 (Information and promotion measures for agricultural products on the internal market).

The actions envisaged in the ‘Trust Your Taste, CHOOSE EUROPEAN QUALITY’ project are many and varied. Describing them in detail is Monica Malavasi, Communication Manager of ASSICA. “The project will act specifically to inform about the production methods of European products, such as safety, nutritional aspects, animal welfare and sustainability, which are currently the most debated and controversial aspects by EU citizens. The products featured in the campaign are all Italian cured meats, the true excellence of our country, and pork. The target audience is the final consumer, who will be reached through the different channels through which they are informed (web and social media, TV and traditional media, but also direct information at the point of sale) to make them aware of the existing data and scientific research as well as the progress made by the entire supply chain to encourage informed consumption. In Italy, a more massive and deeper involvement of the supply chain is also planned. In fact, ASSICA with this project intends to take on a specific information role also with regard to certain professional categories so that a deeper knowledge of the products and their origins, history and unique characteristics will spread more widely even in the sales channels to the public. For operators in the sector, a Digital Academy is planned with video lectures, training seminars and workshops to encourage continuous improvement in the sector, and meetings to stimulate dialogue and comparison to arrive at a new, more innovative and sustainable supply chain model’.
